Funding Opportunities

BWF offers a suite of competitive, peer-reviewed funding opportunities designed to support scientists at key career transitions, stimulate innovation in research, and strengthen the connection between science and society across the U.S. and Canada.

In North Carolina, the Fund also supports STEM education initiatives that expand access to high-quality science learning experiences for students and educators, with a focus on equity, enrichment, and long-term impact statewide.

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund serves and strengthens society by nurturing a diverse group of leaders in biomedical sciences to improve human health through education and powering discovery in frontiers of greatest need.

BWF Spotlight

Sustainability and Art – Beyond the Edge

“One of the most beautiful functions of art is to envisage worlds that do not yet exist, to imagine them, give them form, help them be born and seen. Beyond the Edge explores a further step: combining the power of storytelling with data analysis to seek a more sustainable future for all.”
β€” Álvaro Laiz

Beyond the Edge is a collaboration between Álvaro Laiz and UreCulture, made possible thanks to the support of the National Geographic Society, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and the Museo Universidad de Navarra.
